Mkoloka Health Clinic and Mill
Mkoloka is a highland region some 32 kms deep in the rural west of Nkhata Bay district. It has a primary school but desperately needs a Health Clinic.
Most people here are farmers and those that farm, grow maize. In Malawi people rely on nsima as their main meal which is made from either maize or cassava flour. The farmers of Mkoloka have to travel 30kms with a bag on their heads to the nearest milling point. Here the maize/corn is turned into nsima flour which then has to be transported back.
The community would like to build both a Maize Mill and a Health Clinic in Mkoloka. The maize mill would operate as business whose profits would go to supply the Health Clinic.
How you can help
The local community have volunteered the labour but this project needs start up funding to buy materials to build the Clinic and the Maize Mill.
If you can help in any way please contact us and we will send detailed info including recommendation and approvals from the Malawi government.
